University destinations

What and where do our pupils study after leaving the Latymer School.

Many students choose to study A Levels at the Latymer School Sixth Form with aspirations of later progressing onto university. Having given students the skills they need to succeed, it is always a pleasure to see the vast majority of students awarded a place at their first choice university. Students go on to study a wide variety of subjects, ranging from traditional courses, such as Law, Architecture or Medicine, to more creative programmes, such as Animation or Television Production.

University destinations vary annually but we have a long history of helping students to gain a place at the world’s leading universities. Each year 20 to 25 students receive offers from the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge, and are successful in confirming their place on results day.

As a result of the school’s inclusive ethos, learners from all backgrounds go on to thrive. In 2021 SEND students were successful in gaining places at the Universities of Cambridge and Manchester, amongst others, while 14 students from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds were offered places at Oxbridge.

The success of all students is in part due to the excellent careers advice provided by the Sixth Form Team, and the staff’s detailed understanding of what makes an outstanding university application.

The Latymer School is also happy to facilitate applications to universities outside of the United Kingdom, supporting 2-3 applications to US universities on average per year. In such cases, information collected for UCAS applications is adapted to suit the relevant application format. It is worth noting that courses taught in English are also offered in Holland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Latvia, and many other countries globally.
