Sports
Promoting a healthy mind in a healthy body.
Our high-quality teaching and coaching, along with excellent facilities, enable our young sportsmen and women to participate in teams and competitions at a very high level. Our students participate in local, regional and national competitions, and they get the opportunity to develop and hone their skills alongside their peers. We currently have teams for football, cricket, basketball, netball, rounders, cross-country, athletics, table tennis and badminton, and we have links with local squash and rowing clubs.
However, at the Latymer School, we are firm believers in mens sana in corpore sano (a healthy mind in a healthy body). Students are able to join sporting clubs and groups which are for fun and enjoyment, helping them to relax and unwind after their hard work in the classroom. The school is lucky to have its own fitness suite with cardio machines and weights area.
Jaya and Lemar, Year 10 students, tell us: "Throughout our time at Latymer, we have been provided with an array of extracurricular opportunities. For example, our participation in netball club has allowed us to develop our physical skills, whilst also connecting with our peers. Through the countless fixtures that the school organised, we were given the chance to experience the fun of competitive netball. It has been really nice to have a community of girls who support each other and teachers who are always improving our skills. We hope more can find the same love for the sport that we had."
House sport is very popular and students represent their colours in lessons and at Sports Day. The competition is always very fierce and well-supported by all students.
