Congratulations Faris!

Well done Faris, Year 9, for achieving 1st Dan, Black Belt in Karate, the highest level of Karate for children under 16 years old. Having started karate when he was seven years old, Faris had to practice everything to get his black belt, from the basics to the complex moves and combinations. As he explains, “we must learn four different kata (sequences of different moves). We also have to learn karate techniques and moves (punches, kicks, and blocks). Finally, we must do kumite (fighting) against other students.”

Faris commented “I feel very proud of myself because I trained and practiced a lot for the black belt test, so all the hard work paid off”. He passed his black belt exam first time around, and he was the youngest present who passed. Well done on this fantastic achievement!
