Following a Whole School Assembly led by the Latymer Reading Ambassadors, which celebrated Latymer’s brilliant reading culture and explored the socio-cognitive and health benefits of reading for pleasure, the Reading Ambassadors and our brilliant librarian, Ms Bugg, gave away free books and bespoke Latymer bookmarks to all Latymer students at break time on Thursday, 20th November. Everyone was very excited about receiving an inspirational bookmark or free book, and of the opportunity to celebrate Latymer’s excellent reading culture.

The Latymer Read Anywhere Challenge

We've now launched a brilliant school-wide competition – The Latymer Read Anywhere Challenge - which asks both students and staff to submit photos of themselves reading in unusual or unexpected places, or else just showcases their regular reading spots. Winners will receive a selection of excellent prizes once the competition closes on the 20th January 2026. Students can submit their entries here.

We hope that as many students as possible enter into the competition and, thus, not only inspire others to read for pleasure, but also to have the opportunity to be commended on their reading habits and creativity (and win brilliant prizes)!
