Great outing for our transport enthusiasts

Last Friday, to celebrate Railway 200 and the role of strategic planning in creating pleasant spaces for us to live, 10 students from Year 10 Transport Club attended an engaging event at the London Transport Museum Depot. The day explored the incredible contribution of the railways to the UK over the past 200 years and their profound influence on our society and history.

A key focus of the event was celebrating and promoting the role of strategic planning as a key part of the rail industry and its future. We also discussed the wide range of career opportunities available and what a future in the sector could look like.

One of the highlights was an interactive activity where students shared their vision for the next 200 years of the railways. Their ideas and enthusiasm were incredible, and will be forward to shape part of the work done by the planning team at Rail Delivery Group, to produce a report showcasing these aspirations and exploring how strategic planning can help make them a reality.

With great thanks to the team at the London Transport Museum Depot, the day concluded with a fascinating tour of the Depot itself. An area not usually open to the general public, it demonstrates the role RDG can play in facilitating new unique opportunities for young people to learn about the world around them and network we work within.

Overall, it was a rewarding and insightful experience, and we were delighted that our students were able to attend, engage and share their knowledge, curiosity, and passion for the future of rail with the Rail Delivery Group staff and students from other schools.

A huge thank you to everyone at RDG who contributed to making this event possible. The exceptional talents and skills within our organisation were truly on display!
