On Thursday 29th January, Years 10 - 13 students were lucky enough to receive an afterschool talk from former TV producer and Latymerian Amber Genn (class of 1990) titled, "So You Want To Work In Media?".

Perrez, Year 11, tells us more: "Amber very vividly recalled her time at Latymer, leaving with great A-Levels (she says nothing has changed, by the way!). The golden moment came around when Amber published a university article where she met Take That! After relentless calling to the producers of "The Big Breakfast" (90's daytime TV show) and a drive to East London at 3am, she finally witnessed Live TV production for the first time - this was the foundation to her career as a TV producer - and she loved it!

Amber stressed to us that you will have to work your way up, like she did from a runner to researcher to Senior Producer on This Morning via your tenacity - talk to everyone you can! Because out of the 1,000s that apply and the 100s of rejected applications, you could be the one to break through.

Thank you, Amber, for such an inspiring and educational talk, truly showing us everything it takes to work in TV and Media."
