Last week Year 12 students studying Russian made pancakes (bliny in Russian) to celebrate Maslenitsa (Pancake week).

This ancient fun celebration symbolises the end of winter and prepares Orthodox Christians for Great Lent which ends on Easter Day. Students were rewarded with books by Leo Tolstoy, Alexander Pushkin and Anton Chekhov for their enthusiasm and effort.
