Last Friday, Jiaming took part in a significant sporting and community development event at Douglas Eyre Sports Ground, involving students from multiple schools across the Waltham Forest Borough. The sessions aimed to introduce and develop participation in Ultimate Frisbee, with a particular focus on creating more opportunities for girls to engage in competitive sport and build pathways into regional, national, and international competitions.

Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced, non-contact team sport, with two teams of seven players competing to score goals in the opposing teams end zone. Players can’t run with the frisbee and instead must quickly pass it around the field without it hitting the ground, whilst trying to prevent interception!

At the event, Jiaming attended as both a representative of her local club (Lloyd Park Leeks) and of Great Britain Ultimate. Jiaming is one of the youngest members on Great Britain’s Under-20 Women’s Team and recently got a chance to participate in the World Youth Championships in Spain. Her team played well and placed 8^th, the best result the GB team has ever achieved!

During the session, Jiaming helped lead skills workshops and acted as a role model for younger students, inspiring them with her experience of competing at the highest levels of the sport.
