Book Aid International update

We’d like to extend further thanks to all parent / carers’ very generous donations towards our World Book Day fundraising for the library and Book Aid International. We have received a very kind letter of thanks from the charity for our £1,214.50 gift, and would like to share an excerpt from it to raise further awareness about the work of the charity and the importance of reading:

“Thanks to your kind gift, more children like Thandizolanga can access the books they need to pursue brighter futures:

“Books help me focus on what I want to be when I grow up; I want to be a doctor because I want to help fight diseases. I also want to help elderly people like my grandmother who has been sick for a while now.” (Thandizolanga, 11, Malawi)

Around the world, poverty, displacement and discrimination mean that millions of people have never even held a new book. We work to ensure that everyone has access to the books that can enrich, improve and change their lives. With your support last year, Book Aid International sent over 850,000 brand new books to 22 countries around the world. From books to refugees in Lebanon, medical books to midwives in Ghana, and educational books to schools and libraries in Liberia – each one can only be sent because of the generosity of supporters like you.”

Thank you to everyone again for supporting such important work, and happy reading, all.
