Competitors at the Fourth Plinth ceremony

Congratulations to two Latymer students

As part of Extra Art last term, we challenged Year 9 students to create designs for public art sculptures and to be entered in the Fourth Plinth Schools Awards. The judges picked one winner and one runner up in each of the age categories across all Greater London, and one winning entry per London borough from all the entries in that borough.

We would like to congratulate Avni who won runner up in her age category and Lily who won the best entry from an Enfield school. Both students attended the 4th Plinth Schools Awards ceremony event at City Hall a few weeks ago to collect their prizes for their artwork. Well done, Lily and Avni!

Lily, 9 Wyatt, commented "On Friday 1st of May, I had the exciting opportunity to visit City Hall for the Fourth Plinth School Award Ceremony. It was an incredible experience seeing all the amazing artwork produced by other talented young artists, each inspired by the famous fourth plinth. We were also lucky to receive goody bags from Cass Art, filled with an abundance of art supplies. Overall, it was a truly inspiring day and I would recommend others to participate."

Avni, 9 Ashworth added "Going to London City Hall was a great experience. The exhibition was full of different works by different people which made for interesting viewing. As a result, it made the day fun and it was cool to see, and I highly recommend entering the competition."
