Trip to Estonia

On Tuesday 7th July, Years 8 and 9 Russian students travelled to Tallinn, Estonia, where they spent five days exploring this beautiful city. During the trip students had a great opportunity to practise the language in this wonderful Russian-speaking country. They enjoyed a walking tour of the Old Town - one of the best-preserved medieval places in Europe.

Students learnt about Russian history by visiting the KGB prison cells and the Vabamu Museum. Pupils also had a great time exploring the Seaplane Harbour Museum and the PROTO Invention Factory, where they experienced virtual reality and had the chance to interact with many of the exhibits, including going inside a submarine.

Pupils particularly enjoyed traditional Russian cuisine, including borsch (beetroot soup) and pancakes. During one of the dinners, they took part in a pelmeni (dumplings) making masterclass before enjoying the dumplings prepared by the restaurant. The following day they also enjoyed a marzipan painting workshop. On the final evening pupils rounded off the trip with a game of bowling.

The trip was an incredible experience that everyone thoroughly enjoyed and our students are already looking forward to future trips with the Russian Department.
