Year 11 students in the Great Hall during their final assembly

A rite of passage...

Miss Perrin, Head of Learning for Year 11, took a few moments here to reflect on the wonderful (but very sad!) time the team has had saying goodbye and good luck to the Year 11 students a couple of weeks ago.

On Wednesday 6th May, Year 11 students arrived to school with their school shirts ready to be signed. Some of them took a lot of pride with the creative designs they had crafted on the back! Lots of good luck messages and farewell wishes were written before they sat down to have their final assembly as a year group in the Great Hall. The assembly started with a speech from Mr Gilford, who spoke about what the year 2021 looked like when they started as young Year 7s at Latymer. The year group's first Head of Learning, Miss Jebb, sent in a nostalgic video message for the pupils which was greatly received.

Afterwards, the pupils got to see how they had changed over the course of secondary school, with their Year 7 photos being shown in comparison to their Year 10 photos - a very entertaining portion of the assembly! We also got to see some pictures from across the years - this included Year 7 Cwm, Year 9 Conway, sports fixtures and various trips. You may have heard from your child that we were using a digital camera to capture some memories in their last lessons and these were presented too.

Finally, following emotional speeches from Mrs Billington-Fenner and Miss Perrin, the year group got to watch the highly anticipated staff video. This year's video saw Latymer teachers recreating various music videos/moments. Highlights of the video included Mr Billington and Mr Reader as Nelly and Kelly; Mrs Billington-Fenner and Miss Perrin as Britney Spears; Dr Hussain as Drake and Mr Panton as Beyonce, just to give you a snippet!

The exams have started very well and pupils have left exams giving very positive reports. Please remind your child that they should have their bag/phone in their locker ready to be gathered in their form rooms at 8.40am for morning exams and 1.10pm for afternoon exams.
