English Literature A level Poetry Soiree
Every year, Year 12 students of English Literature A Level pause the examined curriculum to spend some time creating poetry inspired by the poet we study, Ted Hughes.
Students write their own set of poems around creation myths which engage with his 1970 work Crow. We then gather together for a sophisticated soiree at the end of the year, where we read each other the poetry, toast the work with (alcohol-free) bubbles, and award prizes for the best work.
This year, our Soiree was ably hosted by Hannah and Shivon, who introduced the fantastic Year 12 poets who shared their work.
Congratulations to all our wonderful poets and thank you to the teachers who were involved for all of the organisation!
