Trip to Trent Park
On Friday 17th April, Year 12 geographers spent the day conducting fieldwork in Trent Park as part of their AS and A Level specifications. Before the trip, students worked in groups to plan investigations into the water cycle. They came up with hypotheses regarding factors influencing infiltration rate and planned appropriate tests to collect data.
Having practised these methods in the field on Friday morning, students then collected their data in groups in sites across Trent Park. They tested a wide range of factors influencing infiltration rate, including gradient, proximity to footpaths, vegetation cover, and soil moisture. They are now analysing the data back in the classroom, as preparation for AS exams and A Level coursework.
Well done to all the students, who showed excellent capability of fieldwork methods as well as great curiosity. Luckily we had a great day for it and all stayed dry!
