Fantastic results!

Congratulations to the 1st XI Football team who won the Enfield Borough Cup Final on Monday afternoon. In a pulsating clash against local opponents Winchmore School, Latymer picked up the trophy having seen the game decided by penalties. Latymer went into the final full of confidence, having had a good season and despite the team being made up of majority Year 11s and 12s, the team had been playing well and felt that they had a good chance.

The early exchanges saw Winchmore move the ball around well and waited patiently for an opportunity to get in behind the Latymer defence. Winchmore scored first and took a deserved lead in the game, only to be pegged back by a screamer from Ronnie (Year 11) from the outside of the box.

An evenly matched game saw one or two changes for each team, with Yuv (Year 11) producing some decent saves under pressure. Winchmore edged ahead again, with the game stretched and more space appearing in the middle of the pitch. A break down the right saw Tristan (Year 12) equalise with 8 minutes to go, which saw the game head to penalties.

In a tense exchange, Winchmore missed their first penalty, Latymer missed their 3rd penalty, but all others were scored. Then with both teams taking their 10th penalty, the Winchmore centre back blazed his over the bar and over the fence, leaving Louis (Year 13) to roll the ball into the net in what could possibly prove his last kick of a football for the school. Well done to everyone involved!

A special mention to Louis, Ozan and Galen, who leave the team as Year 13s, having made significant contributions to the success of the team this season, and across the seven years they have proudly competed for the school.
