Dentistry
Kushali, Year 12 student, tells us about it:
On Tuesday 17th March, we had the opportunity to attend an insightful talk by Dr Patel, who offered a valuable perspective on the field of dentistry. She emphasised that dentistry extends far beyond simply “fixing teeth”, instead combining a strong foundation in science with highly precise hands- on skills. Dr Patel highlighted the profound impact dentists can have on patients’ lives, not only improving oral health but also restoring confidence, overall wellbeing, building strong relationships and trust.
She provided compelling reasons to consider dentistry as a career, outlining the excellent job security and financial stability it offers, alongside opportunities to specialise in areas such as orthodontics or oral surgery. What stood out most was her emphasis on personal fulfilment, for example the ability to see tangible results every day while making a real difference to patients.
She described dentistry as a unique blend of independence, creativity, and meaningful interpersonal interaction, making it both a challenging and deeply rewarding profession.
