Goodbye Ms Cobbett
03/04/2025

After 10 years at the helm, Ms Cobbett is finally starting her well-deserved retirement. Here is her letter in her last parental newsletter.
Well, the time has finally come for me to wish you all a fond farewell as my time at Latymer draws to a close. I have really enjoyed the 9 years and 2 terms I have spent here and have loved working with governors, staff, students and you, our parents/carers.
It has been a really interesting period, I do not think any of us could have foreseen Covid hitting us and having to deal with two lockdowns and no exams, but I feel as if the students have emerged from that stressful period, stronger and more resilient. We have celebrated the 400th Anniversary of this very special school with a variety of events and attended the many concerts and Junior and Senior plays together as well as all my favourite
sporting activities over the last ten years.
Students treated me to a surprise assembly of ‘This is Your Life at Latymer’ this morning, which was both emotional and very moving, a true representation of why I have loved being the headteacher at Latymer. Many of you have commented on what a warm environment Latymer is, that we are about so much more than the exam results. My aim as the head teacher was always to put the students at the centre of everything we do, our moral purpose was and always should be to put the students first and I hope we have achieved that as a school.
Mr Gilford will take over on Tuesday, 22nd April and I know you will all make him feel very welcome and support him. I am sure that there is so much he will want to achieve for the students, and I know that I leave the school to someone who will work really hard to make sure your children are happy and safe.
I would like to wish all our Year 11 and Year 13 students all the very best for their exams and look forward to hearing about their successes in August.
Thank you to all of you for your kind words and messages.
Ms Cobbett
