House Drama Competition

13/02/2025

Well done to all the students involved!

We are delighted to share that last night’s House Drama Competition was a huge success! The evening was filled with energy, creativity, and outstanding performances as students brought six beloved productions to life on stage: The Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, The Little Prince, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Bugsy Malone, and Cinderella. Each production was a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm of our students, who brought these stories to life with impressive acting, creative staging, and fantastic music.

Huge congratulations to our Sixth Form students, who worked tirelessly to mentor and direct the younger students, demonstrating leadership, dedication, and passion. Their hard work behind the scenes - coaching, choreographing, designing, and directing - was evident in the polished and high-quality performances on display throughout the evening.

Beyond the incredible performances, what made the evening even more special was the sense of community and collaboration amongst the Houses. Although it was a competition, the true spirit of the event lay in the way students worked together, encouraged one another, and helped each other to ensure that every production was as strong as possible. It was also wonderful to see friendships forming across year groups, with older students mentoring and supporting their younger peers.

It was an incredibly close competition and the judges’ awarded prizes for a variety of different categories including best performance, best script adaptation and best costume. The overall winner was Keats with their comical version of The Wizard of Oz, with Lamb and Ashworth coming in second and third respectively with their interpretations of Peter Pan and The Little Prince.

Thank you to the staff who supported this event and a special thank you to our two former students, Annabel Baldwin and Lettie Thomas, who had the unenviable task of selecting the winners from such a strong lineup of performances.

Finally, a big thank you to the families and friends who came along to support the event. Your encouragement and enthusiasm make occasions like this truly special. The House Drama Competition remains a highlight of our school calendar, and this year’s performances have set a high standard for the future!
