Many congratulations to Leyla in 9D, who won the Complicite Young Writer’s Radio Drama Award last year! Leyla’s radio play was inspired by the book The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper (a fantastic winter read which the English department thoroughly recommend to all) and you can listen to Leyla’s piece The Carpenter’s Flame in performance here.

If students are feeling inspired by Leyla’s work, we suggest listening to the whole novel and writing your own radio drama over the holidays. Submissions for the next round of scripts will be taken until the 10^th January 2025.
