World Trade simulation

Year 9 annual activity
On Wednesday and Thursday last week, Year 9 students partook in the annual World Trade Simulation game! The game aims to give students a reflection on how world trade works and allows them to reflect on unequal resources and what this can mean for opportunities for development. They were each allocated a ‘country’ of different sizes (population) which also influenced how they operated in the game.
As Lemar, Year 9, commented "The trade game was a thought-provoking and unique experience where we had to adapt in a situation with limited resources. The actual game consisted of making paper shapes, symbolising products, and trading products as technology (scissors, pencils, etc). It gave us an opportunity to experience how world trade process works in real life, with a lively experience through doing so.
It was a great game that let me learn with interactive scenarios. I had fun with all my peers and enjoyed spending time with people I don't normally speak to. I was worried at first with such little equipment to work with compared to other ‘countries’, but overtime we were able to adapt, and work together successfully with what we had."
