Stand up!
23/10/2024

Special workshop for Year 9 students.
On Tuesday morning, the whole of Year 9 had the opportunity to hear from Aimee and Karl from StandUp! (an interfaith charity organisation whose aim is to educate people on discrimination). Delivering an engaging and informative session aimed at debunking myths and challenging stereotypes about the Jewish and Muslim faiths, their session challenged students critical thinking and helped all to come away feeling more able to identify and respond to discrimination safely and responsibly.
Year 9 students shared their thoughts afterwards:
- Arwen: It was very moving and quite sad to hear about the hatred going on and very educational; some of the statistics were extremely interesting! I think it was an important assembly because we all need to learn about how to tackle hatred. Our world would be a better place without it.
- Peter: It was really good to get some clarity around stereotypes. Having further understanding about current world events and how they impact people. It was delivered in a way which never limited us and enabled everyone to feel comfortable talking through their experiences.
