Wellbeing award for schools

26/09/2025

Promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health within the Latymer community.

We are delighted to announce that Latymer has successfully achieved the Wellbeing Award for Schools, developed by Optimus Education in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau (NCB). This prestigious accreditation recognises our ongoing commitment to promoting emotional wellbeing and mental health across our entire school community.

The award is a reflection of the dedication and hard work shown by both students and staff. The process of gaining the award has been both reflective and rewarding. It involved a thorough evaluation of our policies, practices, and overall school culture, alongside feedback from students, staff, and a sample group of parents. This gave us a valuable opportunity to review what we already do well, identify areas for improvement, and think strategically about how we can continue to strengthen our support for emotional wellbeing and mental health across the school community.

The award acknowledges the positive steps already taken—such as the introduction of Student and Staff Wellbeing Ambassadors, increased counselling provision, and the visible emphasis placed on wellbeing and signposting support.

While we’re proud of this achievement, we recognise that wellbeing requires ongoing attention and care. We remain committed to building on the progress we’ve made to ensure that support continues to evolve and meet the needs of our whole school community. This award provides a strong foundation for further development, and we will continue to embed and enhance the practices already in place. We firmly believe that wellbeing underpins all aspects of school life. It creates the conditions for learning, growth and flourishing, and we look forward to continuing this important work together.
