Economics Conference
Deep diving into the world of economics.
Year 12 students take part in our annual conference.
On the 11th and 12th of July, Latymer alumni and parents took part in the 2023 Economics Conference aimed at current Year 12 Economics students. The school hosted around just under 20 people representing diverse economic disciplines who spoke to students about a variety of topics related to economics, university and more generally career-related advice. The speakers’ backgrounds ranged from experienced investment bankers to recent Latymer leavers currently studying at university, which gave a very broad and well-rounded sessions. These enabled students to gain a developed insight into the world of economics and into possible future careers.
As explains one of the students attending “The two days were extremely gripping, and all students seemed to have gained significantly from the conference. There were a range of talks, including an interactive lecture from two analysts at investment banks about Game theory, where there was a series of ‘Would you rather…’ questions/problems to determine the actual rationality of our cohort in regard to these economic decisions. The days were broken up with a fun quiz organised by our students and teachers, a debate and talks given by our classmates as well.”
Than you so much to all the speakers who really helped make this conference a special event for our students!
