Year 10 trip with the Advanced Maths Support Programme
Orla, Year 10, tells us about this great experience:
"The ‘Girls into Maths’ trip was an inspiring experience which made us all consider our interest in furthering our Maths skills.
We started our day with an escape room which involved lots of problem-solving using clues around the room to log into a computer. This was really fun (surprisingly difficult) and truly tested our Maths skills whilst enjoying ourselves. This was my favourite section because it made the maths problems really enjoyable.
We then had two talks, one about opportunities in Maths beyond GCSE and A Level and one about statistics and how data can be represented. A special guest, Dr Aoife Hunt, talked about her experiences with university Maths and her job in managing crowds at different venues. This was very interesting and gave us lots of examples of how Maths is used in the world of work that we didn't know previously."
