Drama trip

Cabaret - A mesmerising show.

Amazing outing for GCSE Drama students

On 18th January, 33 Year 11 GCSE Drama students had a treat when they travelled to the 'Kit Kat club '(the temporary new name of the Playhouse Theatre.) The place has been transformed into the gloriously louche cabaret club of 1930s Weimar Berlin, and home to the fantastic musical 'Cabaret'. Stickers were placed over the cameras of our phones on entrance so no photos could be taken inside!

It began with a pre-show performance in the foyer and continued onto the stage as a vibrant spectacle of celebration, but by the end of Act One, there is a sense of unrest and then when a swastika is revealed – on the arm of Cliff’s friend Ernst Ludwig, it prompts audible gasps from the audience.

It was truly a mesmerising and magical show. It is one of those theatrical moments that we will all remember for years to come!
