Dormer Shield
T
he Dormer Shield was presented in 1923 by Harold Dormer in memory of his brother Percy who attended
Latymer 1882-85 and who died unexpectedly at the age of 51. His intention was that it should be awarded to
the House gaining most points in a variety of outdoor games competitions. It has now become the top award
for the House scoring most points over the year across many different competitions. The shield itself is in its
second reincarnation. The academic year 2013-14 has seen a unique event in the history of the Dormer shield
with Lamb House winning it for a record breaking 4th time in a row. Mrs McIsaac-Hall and Mr Chapman are
the staff in charge of Lamb House and were asked what is the secret of Lamb’s success? Mrs McIsaac-Hall
attributed the success of the House to all the hard working House Officers and the great spirit that exists in
Lamb House. “I am always amazed and proud at the number of students who stand to be elected as a Lamb
House Officer and by the sheer number of Lamb students who take part in all the competitions. The students
are the House and they deserve all the praise for winning the Dormer Shield for a record breaking 4th time in a
row. Well done Lamb House-Charles is proud of you.”
