T
his year, for the first time, Charities Committee was able to collaborate with the William Preye Day Centre
to provide an afternoon tea party at the school for some local elderly people. On arrival, they were greeted by
a group of sixth form students and background music played by the Jazz band. We served a variety of different
types of sandwiches that required ‘intense and extensive’ preparation by several members of the Charities
Committee and staff. Cakes and other sweet treats were provided by individuals who wished to help out.
Midway through the tea party, Barbershop, A Cut Above and many other wonderful music groups performed
in front of our guests. The elderly folk greatly enjoyed their visit to the school and we will certainly repeat this
event in the years to come.
