This summer 51 members of Chamber Orchestra and Chamber
Choir will travel to Belgium to give concerts in Antwerp, Bruges
and Brussels, our first return to Belgium since our 2005 tour.
Last summer’s tour was to Spain, with performances in and
around Barcelona, including its famous gothic cathedral. This
photo was taken before our concert at St Gaeta.
It was a pleasure to welcome back conductor and
Latymer parent Nicholas Kraemer to adjudicate our
Instrumental and Vocal Performance Competition in
May. The standard of the Open category finals was
as high as ever, with particular congratulations due to
our five winners, pictured (George Mignano, Natalie
yang, John Bachelor, Tom Patel and Emma Edwards).

UR JUNIOR drama production this year was the musical
“Guys and Dolls Jnr.” – a version of the great Broadway
musical by Frank Loesser especially adapted to suit the
talents of a younger performers. Inspired by the Damon
Runyon story, “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown”, the show has
that perfect combination of music and comedy that made it
an ideal vehicle for our “junior” actors, singers and dancers.
Our production featured a large cast of Latymer students
from Years 7, 8 and 9 who had been rehearsing since the
start of the summer term to get the show ready for
performances on Thursday 11th and Friday 12th July. The
afternoon before our first public performance, we did our
usual open dress rehearsal for a large audience of local
primary school pupils and some guests from the Ruth
Winston Centre in Palmers Green – all of whom were
extremely vocal in their appreciation. This was a successful
and much enjoyed production and a great showcase for the
dramatic and musical talents of our younger students.
