was awarded the Certificate for
Meritorious service by the Vice
Lord-Lieutenant of London, Wing
Commander Mike Dudgeon OBe DL, at a
presentation at the London yeomanry on
Thursday 15 March 2012.
The citation stated that the certificate
was awarded in ‘Grateful recognition for
Outstanding service and Devotion to
Flt Lt ridge is the Commanding Officer
of 85 (enfield and southgate) squadron,
air Training Corps, one of the premier
squadrons in London and Middlesex and
Deputy Wing adventure Training
Technical Officer. He is also head of
Outdoor education and PsHe at The
Latymer school as well as being
educational Trips Coordinator.
His work with the cadets includes
being a st John ambulance Brigade First
aid Trainer and assessor for Middlesex
Wing, as well as being part of the teams
delivering shooting, climbing, canoeing,
hill walking and training other trainers.
He also has responsibility for organising
and running Wing adventure Training
Camps for up to 250 cadets.
85 squadron, which has a number of
cadets who are students at The Latymer
school, has won trophies in Middlesex
for Drill and Deportment and has gone
on to take part in regional competitions.
Its band is also recognised as one of the
best in the region and is often seen at
parades in enfield, notably at the
remembrance Day Parades in southgate
and enfield. The squadron has taken part
in a number of Guard of Honour duties in
central London representing the raF in
London and Middlesex when regular
troops are on deployment overseas.

secure a date for 2012 so made sure we
