THe LaTyMer
Campaign in conjunction
with the Music department has been
holding jazz evenings since 2001. The
Pop, Jazz and All That
was introduced in 2005 and has since
been one of the most popular events in
the Latymer calendar. The event is
organised by the Campaign Office but
the entertainment, with the guidance of
the Music department is left in the very
able hands of students. We are
fortunate to have had outstanding
student committees for these events
and they have organised, compered and
run the whole show. Guests bring their
own refreshments – anything from
mineral water and crisps to three course
meals and wine. With audiences of over
400 and nearly 100 entertainers it is a
huge task but worthwhile.

N A VEry cold Saturday
morning in February five
Latymer students and two ex-
Latymerians headed off to the
Cathedral Church of St Nicholas,
They had been invited to sing with
the Newcastle Cathedral Choir as
members of the senior choir for Christ
Church Choir Southgate. Christ Church
Choir scholars rianna Walcott (year
13), Danielle McLennaghan (year 12)
and Josie Wastell (year 12) and
choristers Sophie Hammer (year 11)
and Katie Allen (year 9) joined ex-
Latymerians Kat Gourd and rosie
Tweddle, whom many of you will
recognise as the Latymer All Saints’
Church Organist at the school’s Carol
Concerts and Foundation Day services.
The weekend began with a rehearsal
of the Song School, followed by
Saturday Evensong. We had an early
start on Sunday with a 9am rehearsal
for the 10am Eucharist. There was then
time for some sightseeing before
rehearsals at 5pm and Evensong at
6pm – a busy weekend indeed.
