Trip to Tallinn
A fantastic opportunity for our Russian students.

Russian department Key Stage 3 trip to Tallinn
Last week, a group of lucky Years 8 and 9 students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Estonia, a small but charming country bordering Russia. From the picturesque streets and magnificent views of the old town to the futuristic VR museum, we managed to cover most of the capital city, Tallinn, in just three full days. Every moment together as a group, whether we were huddled under a building escaping the rain or listening to gorgeous piano music at a restaurant, was filled with wide smiles and laughter.
Some of our many highlights on this trip were being taught to make pelmeni dumplings, a Russian delicacy, as well as having Russian language lessons which included lots of dancing, singing and chocolate medals given at the end!
As Evie and Emily, Year 9 students, reflect "Not only did we learn lots on our trip about Russian, Soviet and Estonian culture, and history, but we also learnt a lot about our peers and teachers, forming unlikely friendships and making memories that will undoubtedly last forever. It was great to see some of the teachers embracing the Russian language - by the end of the trip, Ms Cobbett had learnt to count to 10 in Russian! It’s very safe to say that all the students on this trip loved it and we would highly recommend this trip to any future students taking Russian!"
