Our trip to Florence was an enjoyable one. We started of by visiting Pagani where we learned about the revolutionary use carbon fibre in the late 60s which led to the creation of many Pagani cars. We were allowed into the production line where we learnt more about the manufacturing process and technicalities behind the production of such cars. Similarly we went to Ferrari which offered an insight into the internal combustion engines, designed by Enzo Ferrari himself. Visiting Ducati allowed us to see inside an actual mass manufacture production line where we learnt about the benefits of Just In Time Manufacture as well as the precision used when producing super bikes.
On our second day we visited 3 fashion museums. One provided an insight into the history of Italian fashion from the late 1800's to present whilst another provided an insight into Italian fashion from the 14th century to the 18th. We also visited a Gucci Museum where we saw the evolution of Gucci from a small Italian company to the fashion superpower it is today, seeing the various pieces of fashion they have created over the ages. The trip was an insight into design in industry as well as industrial manufacture and was a very enjoyable experience.
