The Latymer chess team scored another notable success on Friday 22 November, emerging victorious from a three-way tournament with Hereward House and Bishop Douglass schools. The Latymer squad had eight players: the six who played at the Eton tournament in September - Savas (yr 10), Gregor (yr 8), Eric (yr 12), Rebecca (yr 10), Keefe (yr 10) and Galen(yr 7) - and two new recruits: Shraddha(yr 8) and Rishi(yr 7). Latymer first defeated Hereward House 4-2 in a closely fought contest, and then overwhelmed Bishop Douglass, winning 6-0. As a result, Latymer has now qualified for the Regional stage of the National Schools Under 19 Chess Championships 2019/20.
