The Latymer Economics Society hosted a game this lunchtime simulating the global stock exchange market. Members of the school from Years 7 to 12 participated in the game, with the Y13 leadership team regulating the buying and selling of shares. The students thoroughly enjoyed the game, which encouraged them to speculate about the price changes of particular stocks in the market for the companies of BP, EasyJet, Coca-Cola, Sky and Sainsbury’s, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge of supply and demand to the simulation.
The society meets one lunchtime a week for presentations from students on economic topics. Our most recent one has explored inequality with the Grenfell Tower Fire incident, with our presentation next Tuesday investigating the role of government in a mixed economy. All students are welcome!
