Eco-Committee Challenge of The Week

This week’s eco challenge is: Buy a reusable sandwich bag

Why?- Single use plastic is a huge problem in the world. From it getting into waterways to breaking down into micro plastics to filling up landfill, it is something many are aware needs to be reduced and eventually eliminated. But many are unaware of how to do so. Here’s one rather unusual but simple one - reusable sandwich bags.

If you have a packed lunch, chances are you have a sandwich rapped in plastic cling film or a plastic sandwich bag, both of which are thrown away after use. With a reusable sandwich bag, you can keep it in your box, take it home, wash it, and use it the next day. I have one that’s made of beeswax - it’s biodegradable, chemical free, plastic free, waste free and sustainable.

Plastic lasts for hundreds of years, and are sometimes only used for a day or a few hours. This is a easy way to help reduce single use plastic.
