This week's eco challenge is: Pick up at least 3 bits of litter someone else has left and dispose of them properly.
Why? - Less litter brings benefit to animals and humans. Not only is litter unsightly and capable of ruining our experience in nature, it also poses danger to animals that may ingest it. Often litter ends up in a river and we all know where our rivers lead to. By removing litter, we are ensuring that it doesn’t end up in our oceans or anywhere in nature.
While you may not think 3 bits of litter is a lot, think of it this way. If a class of 32 all collected 3 pieces of litter, that equates to 96 pieces of litter removed from nature. If every student in the school picks up 3 pieces of litter, that means that around 3900 pieces of litter are no longer a threat to the environment, providing they're disposed of correctly.
