The results from the UKMT Junior Maths Olympiad have now been received. Of the nine students who attempted this paper four students achieved Distinction level certificates, four students achieved Merit level certificates and one student achieved a Qualification level certificate. The paper had a total possible score of 70 and score boundaries for these certificates are:
Qualification less than 8
Three of our Year 8 students who achieved a Distinction certificate scored highly enough to qualify for a medal. Tahmeed Ali (Gold), Alexander Man (Silver) and Aaryan Gupta (Bronze).
This is a considerable achievement as only a small number of medals are awarded nationally by UKMT for this Junior Olympiad paper: 30 Gold medals, 60 Silver medals and 120 Bronze medals.
Furthermore, Tahmeed and Alexander both had a score of more than 52 which means they also receive a book prize; only 50 book prizes are awarded each year in the Junior Maths Olympiad!
Well done to all participants who attempted this very challenging 2 hour maths paper.

Well done to all Year 8 students who took part.
