Metacognitive Strategies

Last week’s virtual assembly to the Year 11s was a presentation on Metacognitive Strategies. It asked them to think about what type of learner they were and through a series of questions related to exam assessment objectives and Blooms Taxonomy, got them to start reflecting on how they approach questions in exams; whether they had thought about their approach to them; what they could learn from tackling previous, similar questions as well as other things they could be doing to help themselves in preparation for the Mocks in January. The assembly was followed up by work which got them to reflect personally on what type of learner they are as well as getting them to evaluate how they approach questions and whether this is effective. A further session on Strategies for Improving Memory will follow soon.
