The theme this month is litter and recycling.

Pick up 3 peices of litter a day

New research revealed by the Hygiene Council shows that Britain is the dirtiest country in the developed world. Over 70,000 animals are killed or injured by litter per year in Britain. The amount of litter dropped yearly in the UK has increased by 500 per cent since the 1960s. 180,000 sacks of litter are removed from the sides of main roads each year. Aswell as harming land animals, it can also end up in waterways, where it enters the sea and harms marine life.

One thing you can do to help is to pick up 3 pieces of litter a day and dispose of it correctly. If you think this won't help, think. Including staff, around 1400 people make up this school. If everyone did this, there would be 4200 pieces of litter off the streets. That’s over the amount of litter found on a 2k stretch of beach in the UK!
