Another successful year for the Russian exchange! A group of 26 year 10 and 12 pupils travelled to Saint Petersburg on 9 February accompanied by Mrs Heath, Mrs Altseva and Mr Rentell.

"Travelling to St. Petersburg for the second time was a completely different experience for me, at least in comparison to my first trip back in Year 10. Not only was the level of my language far better, allowing me to be more receptive to the culture I was immersing myself in, and to better take advantage of the ever astounding hospitality shown by the Peterburzhtsy, but also I began my trip with no preconceived expectations of what I would or should experience despite the small familiarity I had developed with the city, allowing for a trip that felt both refreshing and new, as well as nostalgic and comfortable. Admittedly, my first visit was plagued momentarily with homesickness, but this time I was able to fully enjoy all of the palace visits, the extensive art collections, the noisy coach trips, the rare blue skies and blinding white blankets of snow. School 316 once again did their utmost to make our trip safe, enjoyable, interesting and challenging (a combination often difficult to achieve), but much credit must also be given to the teachers who helped us all with translations, directions, and other travel necessities, which I personally found invaluable. In summary, an unforgettable experience, securing firmly a place in my heart for the Russian language, people and culture."
