Communication with Parents
The School regards effective and two-way communication with parents as vitally important. Our pupils and their parents receive formal school reports, and these are supplemented by evenings set aside for each year group, when parents discuss pupils' progress with their teachers. Parents are encouraged to contact the school at other times when they are concerned about any aspect of their child's progress or welfare. Similarly the school will contact parents on any matter of concern. At the wider level the Governors prepare an annual report for parents and hold an annual meeting for them. The School produces an annual diary covering principal events through the year and there are many opportunities for parents to visit for concerts, matches, Speech day, and many others. A termly newspaper, Latymer Link, aims to keep the whole Latymer community - pupils, parents and old students - in touch with
developments.
Questionnaire results
Thank you to all the parents/guardians who took the time to complete the questionnaires given out with the annual Academic Consultation Evening invitation letters.
We have collated all the results and they can be accessed by clicking
here.
We are always keen to evaluate our practices, and as a consequence of these results and discussions in school we have initiated the following over the last two years:
-
An annual ‘Key stage 4 Learning styles’ evening to offer advice to all our parents/guardians on supporting students at home on their GCSE courses;
-
An annual UCAS Evening for our Year 12 parents/guardians;
-
Access for our parents/guardians to LILE (Latymer Integrated Learning Environment).
-
Browsers for all year groups on LILE to share the following information: homework timetables; criteria for awarding effort grades; criteria for awarding key stage 3 achievement grades; details about key stage 4 coursework; syllabi for all our GCSE courses; revision tips for students on GCSE courses;
-
Regular monitoring of all our students’ progress and especially how well they complete homework tasks. The revised ‘Homework’ policy can be found in the year browsers on LILE.
-
A ‘Parents/Carers Forum’ so that parents, carers and teaching staff can share ideas and build on the successful home-school partnership that already exists. The group meets four times per year to review and evaluate practices at The Latymer School, and the minutes of the previous meetings can be found at the bottom of this page.
Parents/Carers Forum
The School established a 'Parents/Carers Forum' in May 2005 so that parents and teaching staff can share ideas and build on the successful home-school partnership that already exists. The group meets once a term to review and evaluate practices at The Latymer School. The
'Parents/Carers Forum' consists of parents from each year group, along with the head teacher, curriculum deputy, pastoral deputy and chair of the APFLS. The minutes
of the meetings will appear below. If you have some views that could be discussed at future meetings, please email them to
office@latymer.co.uk
The following list shows the names of the parents who are currently members of the forum. If you would like to contact them to discuss issues relevant to the forum, please send an email to office@latymer.co.uk. The school will then forward the email to the relevant parent(s).
