Last week Paralympic Gold medalist Tim Prendergast spent the morning at Latymer as part of Sky Sports Living for Sport initiative. Tim spent the first part of the morning talking to Year 8 pupils in their assembly, where he spoke about overcoming barriers and his own incredibly inspiring journey to success, in which he had to deal with becoming blind at the age of 8. Tim then led two practical sessions with groups of Year 7 pupils, where he led team work games which were designed to challenge the pupils and test their speed, reaction time and determination. During lunch time, Tim led a Middle Distance Masterclass with some of our gifted and talented runners from Year 7 to Year 10. The pupils were put through their paces with a tough training session which was followed with a question and answer session with the 800m gold medalist!
All pupils who got to meet Tim were hugely inspired and had a fantastic time. Big thanks to Tim for spending time at Latymer and meeting so many pupils!
