If you enjoy reading, it's great to have a space to talk about books with other keen readers. This Autumn Term we formed a Year 7/8 Book Club, and decided to read a selection of books from the Booktrust School Library Pack http://www.booktrust.org.uk/
We meet each Wednesday at 1.00 in the Library. Highlights were The Bubble Wrap Boy by Phil Earle (now writer in residence for Booktrust); Shine by Candy Gourlay , a novel set on a remote island that has echoes of the author's native Philippines; Smart , an intriguing detective story by Kim Slater and Terror Kid , a gripping and thought-provoking book by Benjamin Zephaniah.
We explored the themes and style of each book, everyone contributing our opinions, our own experiences, and recommendations of other related books that we've read and enjoyed.
In Spring Term, we are looking forward to an author visit from Annabel Claridge to talk about Rhino Farm on World Book Day, Thursday 3 March. http://therhinofarm.co.uk/About_.html
All Year 7 and 8 students are welcome to join book club. There are plenty more books to read!
