Mobile Medical Unit

On the 12th of January, Year 12 Biology students received a lecture from Bristol University, in the form of a mobile medical unit. The lecture focused on the body, and involved practicals surrounding breathing and heart rate. This hour long talk focused on specific aspects such as the heart, developing our knowledge on the various parts and we were able to measure our heart rates along with the percentage of oxygen in our blood. Along with measuring our total lung capacity and plotting it on a graph to see if we matched the trend, the most excitable event had to be the ECG, where a student volunteers to plunge face-first into a bucket of cold water, in order to see how the rhythm and electrical activity of the heart changes.
